IVCE offers National Electric code update & Grounding & Bonding classes

MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley Continuing Education will be offering 6-code hour course National Electric Code Update in February covering significant changes in the 2017 edition of the National Electric Code. The 6-code hour course Grounding and Bonding is offered in April covering fundamentals and practice of grounding and bonding.

National Electrical Code Update – This 6-code hour course covers the significant changes in the latest edition of the National Electrical Code. These changes include five new articles dealing with Fixed Industrial Process Heating (425), Large-Scale PV Electric Power Production (691), Energy Storage Systems (706), Stand-Alone Systems (710), and Direct Current Microgrids (712).  The course will also cover the major changes in the introduction and all nine chapters of the codebook. Participants will need to bring a copy of the 2017 National Electrical Code, highlighters, notebook and pencils. Class will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Register for course number IND 1600.8. Cost of the class is $99.

Grounding & Bonding – This 6-code hour course is designed for those who wish to better understand grounding and bonding of electrical systems and equipment. The PowerPoint presentation is based on the Soares Book on Grounding, and has been completely revised to coordinate with the 2017 NEC. The class will explain the fundamentals and practice of grounding and bonding in easily understood language using hundreds of color illustrations and photos. Class will be held on Saturday, April 1 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Register for course number IND 1800.4. Cost of the class is $95.

All classes will be held at Iowa Valley Continuing Education located at 3702 South Center Street in room 608. All Iowa Valley NEC courses meet the requirements of the State of Iowa Electrical Examining Board, and are taught by a board-approved instructor, Rick Chambers. Chambers is also a licensed Class A Master Electrician. Participants should bring: 2017 NEC, calculator, highlighters, notebook and pencils. Refunds will not be offered for course AGR 3500.7 after February 2 or for course AGR 3500.8 after March 25.
