IVCE offers opportunities for welding classes

MARSHALLTOWN– Want to become a welder? First you need to learn the basics and Iowa Valley Continuing Education has four opportunities for you!
Basic Welding, IND 5500.24 & IND 5500.25 will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 12 through October 3 and October 31 through November 21 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. You will learn basic stick and wire welding techniques along with TIG (GTAW) processes. Cost is $349. No prior welding experience is necessary.
Basic TIG Welding, IND 1250.6 will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 5 – 24 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Learn fundamentals of running TIG (GTAW) processes in 3 weeks. You will learn basic techniques to perform quality welds in all positions on steel. No prior welding experience is necessary. Cost is $199
Pre Pipe Welding, IND 2200.5 runs September 6 through October 2 on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Learn how to perform the SMAW “stick” process enabling student to continue into career pipe welding. No prior welding experience necessary. Topics include: safety, techniques such as freehand, pipe fitting techniques including preparation and beveling. Cost is $349.
Career Pipe Welding, IND 1300.10 is held October 3 – December 14 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This 11-week welding course will prepare you for a career in pipe welding with SMAW. Must have a basic knowledge of SMAW (stick) welding process. Tuition assistance is available to qualifying and selected students. Cost is $2299.
All classes will be held at the Business and Technology Center Welding Lab on the Marshalltown Community College Campus, 3700 S. Center St., Marshalltown. Participants must wear leather shoes, long sleeves and long pants. Price includes materials and lab fee.
