IVCE offers technical training PLC and Hydraulics

MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley Continuing Education is offering two new technical trainings this spring. Programmable Logic Control (PLC) will begin on Tuesday, Apr. 3, and Hydraulics Troubleshooting begins on Tuesday, May 29.

Programmable Logic Control (PLC) covers the principles of control circuits in industrial equipment using Allen Bradley SLC 500. The course includes PLC hardware, software, PLC trouble-shooting, wire PLC inputs and outputs, creating ladder logic programs, interpreting ladder diagrams, identifying and describing logic symbols, troubleshooting circuits using ladder logic, and programming PLCs. Registration deadline for the course is Tuesday, Mar. 27. Register for course number IND 1705.1. Cost of the class is $580, and participants will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 3 to May 24 from 3 to 6 pm.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 29 to July 5, also from 3 to 6 pm. Students will become familiar with industrial hydraulics. Specifically, the course includes theory of operation, fluid power components, schematic diagrams and symbols, troubleshooting, and design of fluid systems. Cost of the class is $475. Registrations for course number IND 4503.1 are required by Tuesday, May 22.

All classes will be held at the J.W. Norris Technology Center in the Industrial Maintenance Lab on the Marshalltown Community College campus, 3702 S. Center St., Marshalltown. Enrollment is limited, so register early.
