Mary Mosiman

Mary Mosiman, Iowa Auditor of State

Kick-off the fun and exciting Iowa Valley Continuing Education Creative Retirement Spring season line-up of classes, trips and lunch and learns with a presentation from Iowa’s Auditor of State Mary Mosiman on Friday, Mar. 9. Registrations are requested by Wednesday for the meal count.

Iowa’s office of the State Auditor serves citizens as the “taxpayers watchdog.” To help ensure that government is open and accountable to its citizens, the office provides independent, accurate, and timely audits of the financial operations of Iowa’s state and local governments. Government activities are reviewed to ensure they are conducted in an effective, efficient, and legal manner. In addition, this office works with government officials, CPA firms conducting government audits, and individual citizens as they strive to obtain information, answer questions, and resolve issues, all with the objective of making government work better for its citizens.

State Auditor Mary Mosiman will provide a general overview of her duties and report on the fiscal condition of the State of Iowa on Friday, Mar. 9, from 11:30 am to 1 pm as part of the Creative Retirement program at the Iowa Valley Continuing Education Center (room 608) in Marshalltown.

Mosiman has been serving as Iowa’s State Auditor since May 13, 2013. Initially appointed by Gov. Terry Branstad to fill the unexpired term of her predecessor, she was elected to a full term in November 2014. Prior to serving as State Auditor, Mosiman served as a Deputy in the Secretary of State’s Office for more than two years, and previously served as the elected Story County Auditor for 10 years.
