A fun three days in Chicago
Thursday / October 25, 2018
MARSHALLTOWN – The Iowa Valley Continuing Education Creative Retirement trip to Chicago is set for Wednesday, Dec. 12 to Friday, Dec. 14. The trip is open to the public with the deadline for reservations on Nov. 1st.
Tour host Bert Permar has planned plenty of free time for everyone to enjoy Chicago at this beautiful and festive time of year. We’ll depart the IVCE south parking lot at 7 am for a three day trip to the “Windy City!” We’ll stay two nights at the world famous Chicago Palmer House Hilton Hotel in the heart of town, a traditional hotel with the finest hotel lobby in the entire city. This “home away from home” for three days is in the center of the city’s theater district; neighbor to fabulous Christmas shopping; a short distance from world class art, science, and natural history museum; and convenient to the Adler Planetarium, and John G. Shedd Aquarium.
A bus tour will be featured Wednesday evening with a stop at Rush Street where you may choose to have dinner. Make sure to stop by the concierge’s desk if you want to get tickets for a show or other activity while in Chicago.
Thursday you can choose your destination. A morning bus will make the following stops based on interest: Water Tower Place, shopping on the Magnificent Mile, Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Natural History, Adler Planetarium, or the Museum of Science & Industry, then return later in the afternoon to pick you up.
Friday morning we will again load the bus, making stops at the Art Institute and others based on interest, then be picked up before 2 pm for the return drive to Marshalltown, with arrival schedule for approximately 7 pm.
The tour group will travel in comfort with a professional driver; the fee covers bus transportation and two nights lodging. Meals are on your own. The trip is $495/single room occupancy (Course #364) or $345/double room occupancy – must register together (Course #365). Creative Retirement members save $20. To register for the trip call Iowa Valley Continuing Education by the Nov. 1st deadline at 752-4645 or 1-800-284-4823.
