Plumbing Code Update classes offered May 8

GRINNELL – Iowa Valley Continuing Education will offer four Plumbing Code Update classes on Wednesday, May 8. All classes will meet at Iowa Valley Grinnell, 123 6th Ave. West, in Grinnell (room 145).

What’s New in the Mechanical Code will cover significant changes from the previous Mechanical Code cycle. This course is worth 2 CEUs for the Iowa Mechanical License.  Class begins at 8 am.

Construction Safety: Focus Four: OSHA’s “Focus Four” (falls, caught-in or between, stuck by, and electrocution) will be the focus of the second session. This seminar will help workers recognize, avoid, and protect themselves from the types of accidents most commonly involved in construction workplace fatalities. The class is worth 2 hours of OSHA for the Iowa Plumbing and Mechanical Licenses only; not valid for Omaha CEUs. Class begins at 10 am.

Math for the Trades will dive into the basic rules for math (measurements, symbols, pipe/duct geometry), formulas, angle measures, conversion of measurement units, and more. The course has been approved for 4 hours for ANY trade discipline for the State of Iowa License. The course is also approved for 4 hours toward the City of Omaha Mechanical License. Class begins at 1 pm.

What’s New in the Uniform Plumbing Code will walk participants through many of the changes from the previous Plumbing Code cycle to the current cycle. Course content will include revisions, additions and deletions to the Code. This course is worth 2 CEUs of plumbing code for the Iowa Plumbing License. Class begins at 5 pm.
