“This Is Us” cultural celebration is May 5 in Tama
Wednesday / April 24, 2019
The third This is Us celebration of Tama County’s diverse cultures will be held on Sunday, May 5, at South Tama Elementary School. The event runs from 5 to 8 pm, with a potluck from 5:30 to 6:30 pm featuring various cultural dishes shared by participants.
“This will be our third This is Us celebration of diversity in Tama County,” says organizer Sandy Supianoski, IVCE Employer Relations Supervisor and Tama County resident. “This event developed from the county outreach effort by Iowa Valley Continuing Education. As in past years, this free family event will include the potluck dinner plus lots of fun activities like art displays, face painting, and music! This year the music will be performed by Los Aliados, which we know people will really enjoy. We hope Tama County will join us in celebrating who we are!”
This is Us is co-sponsored by Iowa Valley Continuing Education, Meskwaki Nation, Tama-Toledo Chamber, Mid-Iowa Community Action, South Tama Community School District, and Iowa State University Extension.
South Tama Elementary is located at 1611 Country Club Drive in Tama. For those attending the potluck meal, water will be provided, as well as plates, cups, napkins and silverware. Those bringing potluck dishes are encouraged to provide a serving utensil.
