FREE Limelight Leadership Academy is June 24-28
Thursday / April 25, 2019
The FREE Limelight Leadership Academy for young adults ages 14-24 will be held Monday through Friday, June 24-28, in Marshalltown. Participants who may have considered (or even dreamed) of being self-employed will spend a fun week with hands-on activities that will help them understand the ins and outs of starting their own businesses.
During the week, Limelight participants will hear first-hand from several local entrepreneurs. They will also create their own product or service and bring it to the Limelight ‘Shark Tank’ to pitch the idea.
“This event has grown each year, and last year’s participants found that it was a great way to build confidence and lifelong friendships while learning important life skills along the way,” says Becky Hassett, WIOA Supervisor for IowaWORKS Iowa Valley.
Lunch and snacks will be provided as the group meets daily from 9 am to 3 pm at the Iowa Valley Continuing Education Conference Center, room 808 (Dejardin Hall).
Registrations for the Limelight Leadership Academy must be completed by Friday, June 14. Registrations can be completed by contacting Rebekah Traver at 641-352-7942 (Ext. 202) or Rebekah.Traver@iowa.gov. Registrations can also be completed at the IowaWORKS Iowa Valley Office at 204 ½ W. State St. in Marshalltown.
Limelight Leadership Academy is sponsored by IowaWorks Iowa Valley, Iowa Valley Continuing Education, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and the Iowa Department for the Blind.
