At this time, our campuses are open to select students and employees only. Online classes are going smoothly; events remain canceled until further notice. A few IVCE courses will be held in May with small numbers of students in each class. Students can access our services and staff through email. Welding for Garden Art class begins June 6

MARSHALLTOWN – Iowa Valley’s welding equipment and your creativity combine for a fun summer course: Welding for Garden Art. No prior welding experience is necessary to create your own delightful garden creature. The course meets for three weeks on Thursday evenings, June 6-20, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Instructor John Patterson will teach basic welding techniques for stick and wire welding, as well as oxyacetylene cutting, bending, and brazing. Participants can bring their own steel objects to weld into a project with the instructor’s approval.

The class meets in the welding lab at the Iowa Valley Business Technology Center, a stand-alone building on the northeast corner of the MCC/Iowa Valley campus (3700 S. Center St.) in Marshalltown. Cost of the class is $199/person.

The Welding for Garden Art course number is 7500005 (1238). Registrations can be completed online at www.IowaValley.com; scroll down the page and click on the Register Now box. New IVCE students can create an account, and returning IVCE students can log in. Search for Welding for Garden Art, then follow the instructions to register.
