ESL Multi Skills, HSED Prep classes begin soon in Grinnell

GRINNELL – English as a Second Language (ESL) Multi Skills classes for people whose first language is not English and High School Equivalency Diploma Preparation classes for adults wanting to obtain a high school diploma will be offered July through September in Grinnell.
ESL Multi Skills (course # 1000003-1310) meets July 9 through August 30 on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 to 11:30 am and Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 pm with instructor Valorie Larsson. The course assists language learners with vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, keyboarding, and computer-assisted instruction. A reading and listening test is required before classes begin. Cost of the class is $20.
High School Equivalency Diploma/HSED Preparation (course #1100004-1312) meets July 9 through August 29 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 pm with instructor Kathryn Lanius. The course covers preparation for the five required tests in language arts, reading and writing, social studies, science, and math. A reading and math test is required before classes begin. Cost of the class is $20.
All courses meet at the Iowa Valley Community College Grinnell campus, 123 6th Ave. W in Grinnell. Registrations for these classes must be made in person at the Iowa Valley Grinnell campus, during regular class times.
