Our campuses are open to select students and employees only. Online classes are going smoothly; lab classes and events remain canceled until further notice. Students can access services and staff through email. Our switchboards are accepting calls, but most staff are not on campus at this time.

Children in the Middle courses in Marshalltown, Iowa Falls

Children in the Middle 2020 FlierChanges in family structure through dissolution of marriage, custody modification, remarriage, etc. are difficult experiences for a child. Offered through Iowa Valley Continuing Education, Children in the Middle is a four-hour, court-ordered seminar providing education and affirmation for parents, with the primary focus on children’s needs. Topics include parenting skills for divorcing parents, a child’s needs and survival techniques, health versus problematic reactions of most kids, age-specific needs of children, and identifying how a child feels. Step-parents and grandparents are welcome to attend.

Children in the Middle is offered in Marshalltown and Iowa Falls during the upcoming months as follows:

Marshalltown – Meets Wednesdays from 5 to 9 pm at the IVCE Conference Center (room 610) on Feb. 19, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16 with instructor Teresa Klostermann. The IVCE Conference Center is located at 3702 S. Center St. on the southwest corner of the Iowa Valley/MCC campus in Marshalltown.

Iowa Falls – Meets Thursdays from 5:30 to 9:30 pm at the Ellsworth Community College Agriculture Building (room 106) on March 19, May 21, July 16, Sept. 17 and Nov. 19 with instructor Roxann Scheffert. The ECC Ag Building is located at 707 Ellsworth Ave. (Hamilton Campus) on the south side of Iowa Falls.

Cost of Children in the Middle is $49 per person, and child care is not provided; children should NOT be brought to the class. Those who do not read or speak English should bring an ADULT interpreter with them to the class (Si no lee o no habla inglés, tendrá que traer un intérprete ADULTO con usted.)
