Great Decisions 2020 begins Feb. 7
Friday / January 31, 2020
Expand your horizons and prepare to discuss the world! Organized by the Foreign Policy Association, the Great Decisions 2020 series features impartial, thought-provoking analyses on eight issues of concern to policymakers and citizens. Participants will lead and learn from each other during lively discussions while respecting others’ life experiences, value systems, and beliefs.
All registrants receive a briefing book on 2020 issues after registering; be prepared to discuss the first topic at the first session! Each weekly session includes a half-hour video offering expert analyses by administration officials, policymakers and educators; discussion follows.
Great Decisions 2020 topics include Climate Change & the Global Order, India & Pakistan, Red Sea Security, Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking, U.S. Relations with the Northern Triangle, China’s Road into Latin America, The Philippines & the U.S., and Artificial Intelligence & Data.
Sponsored by Iowa Valley Continuing Education’s Creative Retirement program, Great Decisions 2020 meets for eight sessions every other Friday from Feb. 7 to May 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the IVCE Conference Center (room 610). The $49 registration includes cost of the book; two people who register together and plan to share a book can pay a reduced rate of $44. Creative Retirement membership ($20 annually) is required.
