IowaWORKS is an organization that links skill development and job placement into a seamless system of lifelong learning and opportunity. Through programs and services created for job seekers and employers, Iowans can take control of their economic future and the security of their families.
The following partner affiliations allow Region 6 to provide services to both our job seekers and employers customers. Various levels of services are carried out by these organizations.
AARP: Programs and services that assist adults 55 and older with employment-related goals
American Indian Council: Assistance to Native Americans
Chambers of Commerce
County Economic Development
Iowa Valley Community College
Promise Jobs: Services for those receiving assistance through the Family Investment Program (referred through DHS) in achieving self-sufficiency.
Proteus: Services for those who have worked on a farm or in a nursery, greenhouse, or winery in the past two years.
SCORE: Service corps of Retired Executives advising those on starting a business
Vocation Rehabilitation: Specialized services assisting people with disabilities to reach employment-related goals
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA):
Youth Program (ages 14 to 24): Helping those youth with significant barriers to employment achieve their educational goals, learn vital skills for the workplace, and assistance with work experience placement
Adult Program(18+): Working with unemployed/underemployed adults and dislocated workers to assess/increase their current skills level with the goal of determining a career pathway allowing them to achieve their employment goals. Skills can be gained through placement in a work experience or internship with employers.
Workshops: Take advantage of many workshops offered to help with schooling decisions, adjusting to change, finances, job seeking/job retention and much more (see Workshop tab).
