The Orpheum Cancels Live After 5 Concert Series
Tuesday / June 2, 2020
Due to concerns related to COVID-19, the Orpheum Theater has canceled the Live After 5 summer concert series, slated to begin June 19. The decision was made in order to protect the safety of both audiences and artists.
“We have labored over this decision. Live After 5 is hugely popular with people in Marshalltown and surrounding communities, and people look forward to attending every year,” said Bob Untiedt, Director of the Orpheum Theater. “The health of our audience and artists is paramount, and we are doing what we cannot adequately guarantee safety this summer of those in our community.”
The Orpheum is working to reschedule several of the same acts for future engagements, including the 2021 season of Live After 5. The team at the Orpheum is currently working to coordinate schedules with these and other local artists.
The Martha Ellen Tye Foundation and the Community Foundation of Marshall County have allowed us to continue to use their grants (for $10,000 and $2000, respectively) for this series to pick up again in 2021.
The Orpheum Theater, located in the heart of Marshalltown, is operated by the Iowa Valley Community College District. IVCCD is comprised of Marshalltown Community College, Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Valley Grinnell, and Iowa Valley Continuing Education. The District serves a broad range of students and businesses throughout Central Iowa. For more information, check out the website at iavalley.edu/orpheum-theater/.
