At this time, our campuses are open to select students and employees only. Online classes are going smoothly; events remain canceled until further notice. A few IVCE courses will be held in May with small numbers of students in each class. Students can access our services and staff through email. Pharmacy Technician class

Iowa Valley Continuing Education offers a Pharmacy Technician program which is a concentrated, short-term career preparation course of study.

As a pharmacy technician, you are a healthcare professional that is an essential member of the pharmacy team. Pharmacy technicians practice in a wide variety of pharmacy settings, including community settings such as chain or independent pharmacies, hospitals, home health care, long-term care, nuclear pharmacy and managed health care facilities. Expanding pharmacy technicians’ roles is critical to evolving the pharmacy practice model.

Good job opportunities are expected for full-time and part-time work, especially for technicians with formal training or previous experience. According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, the employment of pharmacy technicians is projected to grow 7 percent through 2028, faster than the average for all occupations. The 2018 median annual wage for a pharmacy techs was $32,700 ($15.72/hour). Pharmacy technicians work in pharmacies, including those found in drug, general merchandise, and grocery stores, and in hospitals. Most work full time, but many work part time.
