Manufacturing Workforce Training Session Set for April 21

MARSHALLTOWN, IA — Local industry leaders and workforce advocates are invited to a free informational session on Tuesday, April 21, exploring new ways to strengthen the regional manufacturing pipeline. The session will run from 11 to 11:45 am and is open to the public.

The presentation will focus on the capabilities of Tooling U SME, the workforce education partner of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). As a leader in industry-aligned training, Tooling U SME provides validated curriculum and credentials designed to help educational institutions and manufacturers prepare learners for high-demand careers in advanced technology.

During this brief session, participants will learn how these resources can:

  • Align Training with Standards: Ensure curriculum meets current employer expectations.
  • Support Diverse Programs: Provide resources for credit, non-credit, and technical workforce initiatives.
  • Strengthen Career Pathways: Enhance prior learning assessments and stackable credentials.
  • Expand Training Capacity: Increase opportunities for short-term upskilling and reskilling in the local workforce.

Following the general session, individual meetings will be available for companies and partners interested in a deeper discussion. These breakout conversations can focus on specific program alignment, curriculum mapping, and customized workforce solutions tailored to local business needs.
