Thirteen Adult High School Graduates Honored
Thirteen graduates were recognized at the adult high school equivalency (HSED) graduation ceremony in Dejardin Hall on the Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions campus on Tuesday, June 11. The graduates received letters of congratulations presented by Kathy Siebring, Iowa Valley’s Adult Literacy Instructor. During the ceremony, she read a short commentary regarding each graduate’s future plans.
Students that received a diploma during the ceremony included Mireya Vasquez, Lena Barboza, Floritzel Zoniga Lopez, Daisy Ambrocio Hernandez Ash Poush, Jerika Youngbear, Yariana Mendoza, Isaiah Vasquez, Sierra LittleSwallow, Tyler Combs, Nancy Romero Cortez, and Lucero Lopez.
Each graduate received a certificate symbolizing their dedication to lifelong learning. All 28 graduates (not just the 13 that attended the ceremony), will receive an $400 New Opportunities Scholarship for credit classes at Marshalltown Community College, Ellsworth Community College, or Iowa Valley Grinnell.
Each year, Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions (BCS) presents a Director’s Scholarship award to the student who achieves the highest score on the high school equivalency tests. The June graduating class Valedictorian was Alexis Perez, who may use the Director’s Scholarship to cover full tuition and fees for one year at one of the schools in the Iowa Valley Community College District.
