This course presents the basics of wastewater sources, characteristics, operations, and regulations. The topics covered include biological treatment principles, wastewater math, and an overview of the operation of preliminary, primary, and secondary treatment operations. This course and six months of experience satisfy the eligibility requirements for the state Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade I Exam. This is also a good review for those preparing to take the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade II exam. Textbook and class materials are provided.
