August 1 - August 5
Want to take the crafting of fine firearms to the next level? Engraving will do just that! Robert E. “Bob” Strosin started engraving in 1980. At that time there were no formal engraving classes or even informal studies with other engravers. That same year the Firearms Engravers Guild of America started organizing; it became official in 1982, and Bob has been a member ever since. He has served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer and President of the Guild. In 1986, Bob became a guild-certified Master Engraver. He is also a Colt certified Master Engraver. He is currently a full-time engraver and enjoys learning new skills and passing on what he has learned to others. This workshop is one of five workshops offered as part of the 2022 Master Craftsman Series for gunsmithing continuing education in conjunction with the Gunsmith Technology program at Iowa Valley Community College Grinnell. Participants will provide their own firearms, tools, and materials to work on during the sessions and are responsible for their own meals and lodging. Tools and materials list will be provided prior to the workshop.
