Instructors Needed for Kids in College – Summer Youth Camp

Do you have a passion that you would love to share with students this summer? Iowa Valley is looking for instructors that will teach a session in the Kids in College summer camp. The first camp slated for June 14-18. Instructors could choose to teach one or two sessions: the first session will run from 8:30 am – 10:00 am, and the second session will run 10:15 am – 11:45 am. There will be a second session, held August 2-4. Instructors will teach one course for the entire time period, from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm.

Session topics could include anything from cookie decorating, Harry Potter, STEM topics, floral arrangements, play-acting, or other hobbies that instructors are willing to share. Interested in teaching, but don’t have a topic in mind? We can help you select a topic. The sessions should be designed for students entering grades 4 – 8. Class topics can vary by grade. Instructors will receive a small stipend for their time and materials.

Who can be a Kids in College instructor? Anyone with a hobby or interest to share can teach a class, but the people who benefit the most are teachers, college instructors, and college students looking to major in education. The goal of the week-long camp is to introduce kids to college life while giving them the opportunity to explore an interest or learn a new hobby.

If you are interested in being an instructor for the June or August camp, complete the Instructor interest form on the Iowa Valley Continuing Education website, or contact Terri Hungerford at terri.hungerford@iavalley.edu to learn more.
