Emergency Medical Technician Career Training begins May 6

Iowa Valley Continuing Education will offer an Emergency Medical Technician class, beginning May 6. EMT’s Provide basic, noninvasive interventions at the scene and during transportation of patients to the hospital. This class is 140+ hours of classroom/online instruction and 48+ hours of clinical/field experience. The course meets at IVCE in Marshalltown on Monday and Thursday evenings.

People interested in becoming an EMT should be 17 years of age at the time of enrollment and possess a valid driver’s license. Current CPR Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association) or Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) level is required prior to starting class. Students will need a copy of their immunization records.

Students will study aspects of EMT training, and allow EMTs to stay current with their CPR, AED, and other basic life support skills for adults, children, and infants.

When students successfully complete the short-term training program, they will be able to take the NREMT test and become certified as an EMT.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, Class ID 7578, is $1,299, with registration and payment due before the class begins.
