This six-hour program, available in Iowa Falls, provides a perfect launchpad for teenagers seeking to obtain their moped license in Iowa.

“With mopeds becoming an increasingly popular choice for daily commutes and errands, ensuring young drivers are equipped with the right safety knowledge is paramount,” explains Julie Thomas, Workforce and Education Coordinator. “Our engaging classroom instruction equips students with valuable insights into moped operation, safe riding practices, and practical tips for handling complex situations on the road.”

The course curriculum covers essential topics, including:

  • Operator and Moped Preparation: Students learn proper pre-ride checks, safety gear essentials, and responsible driving practices.
  • Basic Control Skills: Mastering balance, braking, and maneuvering through controlled exercises lays the foundation for confident moped handling.
  • Safe Riding Practices: Navigating traffic lanes, maintaining proper road positioning, and understanding road signs and signals are emphasized for enhanced safety.
  • Handling Complex Situations: The course delves into defensive driving techniques, hazard awareness, and strategies for unexpected scenarios.
